FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME 7

+++ eMobility support for FP7 call 4/5 participation +++

Projects from the first calls of FP7 are well on their way, and preparations for Call 4 and 5 have already started. Call 4 is expected to be published at the end of this year with closing date in April 2009, followed by Call 5, which is expected to open in June 2009 and to close in October/November 2009. Call 4 will focus on basic technologies, both for mobile/wireless and optical networks, while Call 5 focuses on Future Internet architecture issues, 3D and Media Internet, Internet of Services and Things, and Trust and Security.

The draft ICT work programme 2009-10 can be requested from the National Contact Points (NCPs) – see the NCP list at http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/ncp_en.html
eMobility is planning to support its members with respect to their participation in Calls 4 and 5 in various ways, including e.g. with the identification and discussion of topics of interest and by bringing members interested in joint topics together to support the formation of consortia.

As a first step, eMobility asked all members and everybody active in the scope of eMobility to express in which topics and areas they are interested regarding call 4 and 5 project proposals. All eMobility members are therefore invited to fill out and return a questionnaire that was sent to members and all experts active in eMobility activities on 18 July 2008. It is based on priorities of the FP7 draft work programme 2009-10, and priorities of the eMobility SRA.

The feedback will be used to identify areas of strong interest and gaps, and will also enable bringing together members with joint interests and supporting the formation of strong and balanced consortia.

eMobility is driving the establishment of a set of coordinated proposals from the ETP's eMobility, NEM, NESSI and ISI to ensure good coverage of our priorities, maximising the synergies between the platforms. Proposals to form consortia from eMobility members will form an important input to the formation of this set of coordinated proposals. The topic has been scheduled for discussion at the eMobility Steering Board meeting to be held on 1 September 2008 in Brussels.

The results of this survey will be made available to eMobility members in anonymous form. The information collected will also be used to facilitate networking between members at the upcoming eMobility GA.

The filled-out questionnaires shall be sent to Ellen Tallås at tallas@eurescom.eu - the deadline is 15 August 2008. If you have not yet received the questionnaire, please send a short request to info@ist-emobilityssa.org – “Send questionnaire” in the subject line is sufficient.
